The temporal and spatial regulation of signal transduction pathways is paramount to the normal growth, development and homeostatic
regulation of an organism. Disruption of these regulatory pathways has profound consequences, underlying many pathological conditions including
neurodegeneration, cancer and cardiovascular disease. The research in our lab is aimed at understanding the role of scaffolding proteins in
coordinating signal transduction pathways. This class of molecules consists predominantly of protein:protein interaction domains and functions to
assemble multi-protein complexes that regulate cellular biochemical pathways. The current focus is on the unique, multi-domain scaffold intersectin
(ITSN), which coordinates the processes of endocytosis and signal transduction and thus contributes to cell growth, differentiation, and survival.
