Postdoctoral Fellowships
John P. O’Bryan

A funded Postdoctoral position is available immediately for a highly
motivated individual to study the compartmentalized regulation of signal
transduction pathways by the scaffold protein intersectin (ITSN). The
laboratory has previously uncovered a role for ITSN in the regulation
multiple biochemical pathways including endocytosis, protein kinase activation,
ubiquitylation, and Ras activation. We are interested in defining the
normal function of ITSN in the processes of cell growth, differentiation,
and survival as well as involvement of ITSN in such pathological conditions
as cancer and neurodegeneration (see http://www.uic.edu/depts/mcph/obryan.htm for
more details). Applicants must be a US citizen or permanent resident,
possess an M.D., Ph.D. or M.D/Ph.D. with relevant experience in molecular
biology, cell biology, or pharmacology, and be available for personal
interviews. The laboratory is located in the new College of Medicine
Research Building with state-of-the-art facilities including core facilities
for confocal microscopy, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, animal husbandry,
etc. The University of Illinois at Chicago, located in the Medical
Center District 1 mile west of the Chicago Loop, is an Affirmative Action/Equal
Opportunity Employer. Interested candidates should email a statement
of research interests and experience, a CV, and names of three references
to:
