The extensive test menu includes routine biochemistry analyses such as electrolytes (Na, K, Cl, etc), tests of liver function, tests of renal function, blood gases, basic metabolic screening tests. However, more specialized tests such as those to monitor therapeutic drugs and drugs of abuse are also performed in the laboratory. We also offer an extensive menu of immunoassay procedures including hormone assays, tumor markers, tests of thyroid function, markers for anemia, tests of cardiac damage/cardiovascular risk, therapeutic drug monitoring and tests for infectious diseases. A point-of-care testing program is also managed by the laboratory. The Division of Chemical Pathology produces approximately 1.6 million reportable test results each year.
