Uveal
Melanoma: A Tumor Developing in a Special Immune Environment
The
immunological response to uveal melanoma is strikingly different
from that seen in cutaneous melanoma.. In cutaneous melanoma, for example, the presence of numerous tumor
infiltrating lymphocytes is associated with a favorable outcome,
but in most studies of uveal melanoma, the presence of tumor infiltrating
lymphocytes is associated with poor survival.
