The Microphysics lab's spirit is alive! We are marching ahead well into the new millennium. Our web site is gradually taking shape and many of our members have updated their pages. The MPL's alumni body is still small and very special. We all share a common thread that stitches us into a family.
This year has been a very successful one! We have a couple of graduate students ready to receive their doctorate degree. Mikhail Daraselia already joined a company in California and will be defending his thesis very soon. Greg Brill will be defending his thesis in May. He has been working at the Army Research Laboratory for the past year. I am very proud of our student's accomplishments. I would like students who are departing to stay in touch and visit our web site time to time. Better yet, I would like them to visit us when possible.
This year our lab received a MURI program from the Army Research Office. This program will bring more value to our institution and hopefully attract a fresh batch of talented students.
Finally, I would like us to stay in touch with MPL alumnus body. To enable us to serve our members better, and ensure that you are kept informed of events of interest to you, I am again requesting everybody to continue to update their alumni pages. It would be helpful if you would notify us when your employment or any other information changes. Even if it were simply a matter of a change in business address or telephone number, I would like to know.
It would be nice to hear from you time to time about your success stories professionally or otherwise.
If you would like to submit a short article, technical notes or any news here at the MPL web site, please feel free to do so by emailing the webmaster.
Have a great 2001!
