Step 1 - Review Your CredentialsTo be considered for the Doctor of Philosophy in Neuroscience:
Grade Point Average: A minimum average of 3.0 (4.0 = A) for the final 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of undergraduate study. Tests Required (UIC Test Code 1851): GRE general; scores will be evaluated on an individual basis in relation to other markers of academic achievement. However, students with verbal + quantitative scores greater than 1200 have been preferred. Minimum TOEFL Score (for International Applicants) (UIC Test Code 1851): 620 paper-based; 260 computer-based. For the TOEFL iBT, we will utilize the Graduate College minima (Reading 19, Speaking 20, Listening 17, Writing 21, Total 80). Personal Statement: A one to three page statement of the applicant’s professional goals, including the justification for pursuing a career in neurosciences, is required - see Step 2. Letters of Recommendation: Three required, preferably from instructors and advisors who are familiar with the applicant’s recent work - see Step 4. Applications are accepted for the Fall semester only. Students who submit their application credentials by January 1 will receive preferential consideration. All applications and transcripts must be received by the Office of Admissions and Records no later than February 1 for consideration for the following academic year.
