Step 3 - Apply to the Graduate Program in Neuroscience


Students are encouraged to use the online application process (follow this link). Read and follow all of the instructions carefully to avoid delays in processing your application. The online application is more efficient and is preferred.

International students should also read the specific instructions for International applicants provided by the Office of Admissions and Records and follow these instructions carefully before applying.

The application fee is $50 for domestic applicants, $60 for international applicants. Application fees will not be waived. Separate applications need to be submitted when applying to additional Programs.

A paper application is also available in "pdf" format. The online application is the preferred form for applicants to the doctoral program. Follow this link to obtain the paper form. Use the following Program codes (Page 9 Section 21 of the application) for applying to the Neuroscience Program - you must use the paper form if applying for the Master's Program as a resident in Psychiatry.

20FS0323MS - for the MS in Neuroscience (for Psychiatry residents only).
20FS0323PHD - for the PhD in Neuroscience.
20FS0323NDEG - for nondegree students in the field of  Neuroscience.

Submit your “Basic Admission Credentials” (this application, application fee, application checklist, and unopened transcripts) to the UIC Office of Graduate Admissions:

All other required materials, such as Personal Statement (if not sent electronically) and Letters of Recommendation must be sent directly to the Director of Graduate Studies for the Neuroscience Program. Go to Step 4 for details.

Applications are accepted for the Fall semester only. All applications and transcripts must be received by the Office of Admissions and Records no later than February 1 for consideration for the following academic year.
