Anida Yoeu Ali is an interdisciplinary artist of Cambodian Muslim heritage currently living in Chicago. Her performance repertoire synthesizes poetry, movement, video, and site-specific installations into hybrid explorations of identity. She is interested in using performance work as a means to transform loss into conversations about healing and understanding. Her performance works with Mango Tribe Productions, I Was Born With Two Tongues, Nomadic Revival, and Art Action Group have affirmed her belief in collaborative creation and collective problem solving. Her work is published in "Screaming Monkeys: Critiques of Asian American Images" (Coffeehouse Press 2002), "Voices of Resistance: Muslim Women on War, Faith and Sexuality" (Seal Press 2006), and "Shout Out: Women of Color Respond to Violence" (Seal Press 2007). As an MFA Candidate at School of the Art Institute of Chicago, her art continues to explore Diasporic issues of displacement, spiritual turmoil, and loss within exiled bodies.
