Russell Betts
Vice Provost for Planning and Programs
The
Vice Provost for Planning and Programs reports to the provost
on issues related to integrated planning and assessment of institutional
quality.
His
responsibilities include working with the deans, department heads,
faculty and others in the evaluation of academic units, accreditation
issues, strategic planning and the evolution of UIC’s academic
programs.
Betts,
who joined UIC in 1994, was senior physicist at Argonne National
Laboratory. He previously taught physics at Oxford and Yale universities.
He
earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Oxford
University and a master’s and Ph.D. from the University
of Pennsylvania.
