Richard J. Daley Library (801 S. Morgan St.)


Accessible Entrance:
Automatic doors are located at all library entrances.

Parking:
The closest accessible parking is in Lot 9.

Accessible Route from Parking Lot:
From the parking lot, exit on Harrison street and cross over to the other side and go south to get into the building (approaching from the east side).

Accessible Route from Shuttle Bus Stop:
From the shuttle bus stop on Harrison street outside Student Residence and Commons, go south to get into the building (approaching from the east side)

Accessible restrooms:
There is an accessible men’s and women’s restroom on each floor of the library.

Accessible elevators:
There are 4 elevators on the west side of the building. The elevator at the northwest end is the largest. All elevators meet accessibility requirements.

Assistive Technology:

In addition to native assistive technologies such as MAC OS VoiceOver (for the visually impaired) and Microsoft Windows Ease of Access Center, available on computers throughout the library, these items are available in the open area of the IDEA Commons, first floor south:

Two wheelchair accessible workstations with:

  • JAWS screen reader software.
  • Kurzweil 3000 and scanner: scan and read software.
  • Zoomtext text magnification software.
  • A closed circuit television for magnification of print materials.

These items are available in the IDEA Commons classroom (Room 1-010), first floor south:

Four adjustable workstations with:

  • JAWS screen reader software.
  • Kurzweil 3000 and scanner: scan and read software.
  • Zoomtext text magnification software.

On the second floor, the Daley Library has:

  • Two adjustable height computer workstations, second floor middle.
  • One adjustable height computer workstation, second floor north.

 

Retrieving Library Materials:Library staff can provide basic research assistance as well as assistance with retrieving books and journals from the stacks and photocopying of materials for patrons with disabilities. Deaf and hard of hearing students can request a sign language interpreter during regular work hours (8:30am – 5:00 pm). Accessible Entrance:
The main entrance to the library has an access ramp and automatic doors.

Parking:
The closest accessible parking is in Lot E.

Accessible Route from Parking Lot:
Exit the parking lot and cross over to the other side of the street to enter the building.

Accessible Route from Shuttle Bus Stop:
The nearest shuttle bus stop is across the street from the Library of Health Sciences. You need to cross over to the other side of the street to enter the building.

Accessible restrooms:
There is an accessible men’s and women’s restroom on the third floor of the library.

Accessible elevators:
There are 2 accessible elevators across the hallway from the main entrance.

Assistive Technology:A wheelchair accessible work station is located on the first floor. The computer on this work station is equipped with JAWS, Kurzweil 3000 Pro, and Zoomtext.  Headphones are available at the Circulation Desk. However, users are encouraged to bring their own for hygienic purposes.A Telesensory Aladdin Pro CCTV is also located on the first floor.
