DSTP Student Advisory Committee
The DSTP Student Advisory Committee was created in order to support and increase student engagement in the DSTP process. The committee is comprised of student volunteers representing a variety of student experiences and perspectives, including undergraduate, graduate and professional students across colleges and disciplines; and commuters and campus residents.
The Student Advisors were engaged in the following activities during the Diversity Strategic Thinking stage of the process:
- Organizing diversity discussion events for UIC students.
- Reviewing UIC student data and surveys.
- Meeting with the campus DSTP Committee to exchange information learned from each other’s work, and discuss major questions and issues that arise during the process.
- Sharing information about UIC student perspectives and experiences during the preparation of campus and college/unit Diversity Strategic Thinking documents.
In June 2010, as the process transitioned from Thinking to Planning, the student advisory committee was integrated into the campus-level DSTP committee.
