Faculty Handbook

Section I.   Overview

A.  Welcome – A Message from the Provost

Dear Colleagues:

This handbook is intended to help you achieve your greatest potential as a faculty member at UIC. You are doubtless aware that many people are counting on you. UIC is vital locally, nationally and internationally in many ways. We lead in educating a diverse student body and conducting excellent research. The campus is also an economic engine, a major healthcare and public service provider, and a place to promote frank inquiry and social justice.

Your role in advancing this ambitious mission brings with it a correspondingly complex set of privileges and responsibilities. UIC is committed to helping you navigate your obligations successfully, with the knowledge that your personal success will extend to the many people that we serve.
