UIC Emeritus Faculty Center
The UIC Emeritus Faculty Center located in room 2460 of the Richard J Daley Library opens on November 2, 2010. It is the first space on campus dedicated solely for Emeritus Faculty. The Center has three rooms: a conference room space, a sitting area as well as a work area equipped with a computer, a printer and a wireless connection.
This Emeritus Faculty Center project was initiated in the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs under Vice Provost Mo-Yin Tam. The funding for the Center was provided by R. Michael Tanner, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs with space provided by Mary Case, the University Librarian.
The University of Illinois at Chicago has honored approximately 650 faculty members with the Emeritus title since 1990. The Emeritus Faculty has made exceptional contributions to the University. Many of them continue to engage in teaching our students, involving them in their laboratories as well as in scholarly accomplishments including conference presentation, publications and grant funding contributing to the Research I status of the University. The completion of the UIC Emeritus Faculty Center is another way we recognize the significant contribution of our emeritus faculty to teaching, research and service. It provides them a place to gather, chat, work or check their emails especially when they are on campus to meet with students or colleagues. The Center is intended to strengthen the connections of our Emeritus Faculty to the University as well as enable them to continue to be a vital part of the UIC community.
If you are an Emeritus Faculty and would like access to the Center please fill out and submit the online form.
