2008 NEW FACULTY ORIENTATION WORKSHOPS: Opening Workshop: Thursday, September 11, from *9:30 am* to *1:30 pmin the Illinois Room,* *StudentCenter* West (SCE). An interactive workshop featuring Lon Kaufman, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs and Dean of the Honors College, Professor of Biological Sciences Carole Snow, Vice Provost for Academic and Enrollment Services William Walden, Special Assistant to the Provost for Diversity, Professor of Microbiology and Immunology Walter Benn Michaels, Professor of English Tour of the Historic Walter Netsch Campus with Robert Bruegmann, Professor Art History Lunch in 2850 University Hall Teaching and Learning Workshops: Week of September 15, workshops on both East and West campuses. Faculty members who have won teaching awards will share their thoughts on the most important aspects of teaching and learning as well as information about teaching resources. Brown Bag Workshop for New Tenured Faculty: Monday, September 15, lunchtime,** informal workshop for tenured faculty who are new to UIC. Research at UIC: Week of September 22, workshops on information on resources and opportunities for research at UIC in the social science and humanities (East campus) and sciences and health sciences (West campus). Details on exact dates, times and locations will be posted here and emailed to all new faculty later this summer.
