Vice Provost for Information Technology

Ahmed Kassem, Vice Provost for Information Technology and Director of the Academic Computing and Communications Center at UIC, drectly manages the UIC central computing facilities, telephones, communications, network, networking services and academic computing. The organization spends about $17 million annually and employs 150 full-time employees and 100 part-time students. The Vice Provost for Information Technology works closely with faculty and administrators to frame and guide distributed information technology activities, and insures that the University makes optimal use of these technologies in a cost-effective manner in its education, research and service endeavors. The VP for IT represents UIC locally, nationally and internationally through organizations such as the Seminar of Academic Computing, EDUCAUSE, Internet2/UCAID, MREN and UI-Online Steering Committee.
