In-School Health Center
The UIC Neighborhood Initiatives Division of Community Health operates a school-based health center in UIC College Prep utilizing funding from the Healthy Schools/Healthy Communities Bureau of Primary Health Care and the Department of Human Services. The mission of these programs is to provide comprehensive health care to students who attend the school, their siblings and members of the community.
Health services include: management of primary health care needs, chronic medical conditions, school and sports physicals, behavioral health evaluation and counseling, laboratory services, nutrition and health education, and follow-up and referrals for medical problems.
The UICCP Health Center is governed by an advisory council of enrolled students, parents and interested community members. This group advises the clinic staff on operational issues and scope of services. This council also has representation on the Mile Square Health Center Board of Directors, the organization that works within the community to address health policy issues and plan for the future.
