Established in 2003, the Office of School Relations (OSR) was formed
to facilitate comprehensive collaboration and coordination between UIC,
Chicago Public Schools (CPS), City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) and selected
community partners.
OSR works both independently and collaboratively with other dedicated
UIC departments to support successful academic and cultural transition
from high school to college learning.
In 2004, OSR received a $1 million dollar grant titled: Project CHANCE
from the Illinois State Legislature to develop a customized program
devoted to helping underrepresented students meet the challenges of
college life.
CHANCE Learning Center (CLC)
Today, the CHANCE Learning Center (CLC) aims to assist incoming freshman,
transfer and currently enrolled students make their transition to UIC
by providing an arena that focuses on: academic preparation, study habits
and skills, motivation, coping strategies and more. All factors involved
in CLC are devoted to helping the student become independent, confident
and ready to take their rightful place in society after graduation.
