As we strive to
build relationships with citizens of the City of Chicago and
surrounding suburbs, the Office of School Relations promotes and
creates partnerships aimed to "enhance
and improve the quality of life" for those in need of educational
assistance.
OSR Partners with programs that operate both
on and off campus. Collectively our role to assist students and
the community-at-large concentrates on providing the best "living
and learning" environment that we possibly can for our students.
On-Campus Partners
(Mini Grant Projects)
The CHANCE Learning Center distributed over $200,000 to campus
partners who are all committed to increase retention and graduation
rates of underrepresented students. Our campus partners are: the
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Applied Health
Sciences, College of Business Administration, Office of Women
Affairs, Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy, the
Mathematical Science Learning Center, English Composition Department,
the Academic Center for Excellence, McNair Program (Graduate Pipeline
to Success), and the Performing Arts Center.
Off-Campus Partners
All collaborations are created with the intent
to establish partnerships and form linkages with the efforts of
identifying and retaining “qualified” and “serious”
underrepresented populations who would like to pursue their educational
aspirations at UIC.
The staff participate in community
events such as business and career fairs, special events, and
church and neighborhood groups. They regularly visit high school
campuses, provide campus tours, and assist students with college
planning, admissions, and registration.
