Search for Dean of the UIC College of Dentistry
The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Dentistry. One of seven colleges that comprise UIC’s academic health center, the College of Dentistry plays a singular role in the state of Illinois with a sizable research enterprise, a full range of specialty programs, and deep ties to the Chicago region.
This search comes at a time of significant and exciting changes in the College. The past decade was highlighted by growth in its research enterprise, the implementation of a new curriculum, the recruitment of 70 exceptional new faculty members, a transformative renovation to the dental building, and fundraising efforts leading to nearly $50 million in donor support. The College seeks a dean who will capitalize on these advancements, the University’s interprofessional assets, a strong alliance with the Illinois and Chicago Dental Societies, and the enthusiastic support from faculty, staff, students, alumni and neighboring communities.
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost, the next Dean will lead a rapidly evolving, highly diverse college committed to access and inclusion. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional leadership skills and a depth of experience in academic administration, a strong and innovative vision for the future of dental medicine, a history of creating robust interdisciplinary partnerships, and boundless energy and enthusiasm for promoting the work of the College. S/he will empower and integrate an outstanding group of faculty focused on the College’s academic, research, and practice missions; ensure excellence in the quality of the student experience; maintain the excellent support from staff, sustain vital relationships with alumni and other members of the dental community; and increase research activity and funding.
