Provost Announcement: Kevin Browne Appointed Vice Provost for Academic and Enrollment Services
I am pleased to announce that Kevin Browne has accepted the position of Vice Provost for Academic and Enrollment Services (VPAES) effective August 1, 2011, pending Board of Trustees approval. Kevin currently serves as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Extension and Summer Programs at the University of California, Merced.
In his experience at the Merced and Santa Cruz campuses of the University of California and at a number of institutions including California State University - Los Angeles, the Egyptian Air Force Academy, The American University in Cairo and Pace University, Kevin has demonstrated a commitment to retention and degree completion as well as enrolling both a diverse and academically outstanding community of students. Most recently Kevin oversaw a 70% increase in applicants at UIC Merced in the last 3 years, and a 10% increase in yield of admitted students in the last year alone. In this process UC Merced has become the most diverse campus in the University of California by drawing underrepresented students from all parts of the state, leading to the campus's designation as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) by the US Department of Education only 3 years after opening -- only the second campus of the University of California to be so recognized.
