Position Advertisement– Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs

Nominations and applications are invited for the position of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs. 

The Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs provides leadership to the campus and support to the Provost on issues related to faculty. This position will report to the Provost and is a member of the Provost’s senior advisory group. The candidate must hold the rank of full professor with tenure and should have administrative experience, preferably with broad exposure to instructional, research and support activities; experience in issues related to faculty academic appointments (tenure-track and other); a commitment to principles and practices of shared governance; and a commitment to fostering diversity among the faculty. The preferred candidate should also have familiarity with both east and west side units, their programs and cultures; strong interpersonal skills and experience in building collaborative teams; a wide network of colleagues within the campus and other universities; and a broad knowledge of issues in higher education.  Faculty Affairs Human Resources reports to the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs, who also has the responsibility for coordinating the Campus Promotion and Tenure Committee. Additionally, the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs provides analysis and research on academic issues for the Provost, and represents UIC on various university committees and projects.
