Student Summer Institute

Our Student Summer Institute consists of a six-week course, an education and experiential leaning program for ten UIC undergraduates focused on deepening their understanding of social justice issues in Chicago. Students read, discuss and collectively develop a social justice project that can educate and energize the larger community. In 2012 students worked with our visiting social justice fellow, Dr. Ivan Arenas, to conceive of and curate a photo exhibition at our PUJA space entitled “What is a Life Worth?” focused on privatization issues and struggles. In 2013, students engaged in a review of social justice curricula at colleges and universities across the country.
For more information on the Summer Institute, please contact us. Deadline for application and enrollment is March 1.
