for next year. This
$300 scholarship targets women full-time undergraduate liberal
arts & science students at UIC.
WISE Midwest Generation Scholarship
Thanks to the generous support of Midwest Generation, the
UIC WISE program is offering two, non-renewable scholarships
of $2,500 each.
Primarily in the business of generating electricity to sell
wholesale in the open market, the company owns and operates
6 electric power generating facilities in Illinois, including
two in Chicago's Pilsen and Little Village communities. The
company and its employees believe in improving the quality
of life in the communities where they live and work. Midwest
Generation is committed to the community, the environment and
the safe, reliable generation of electricity.
WISE Ann Sluzas Martin Scholarship
The Anne Sluzas Martin Engineering Scholarship, established
in 2003 thanks to a generous gift from John and Arlene Norsym
in honor of Arlene's mother, will be awarded again this year.
The fund is targeted to support women engineering students
with children. After receiving B.A. and MBA degrees from UIC,
Norsym dedicated 15 years of her career to advising and supporting
women engineering students as Assistant Dean at UIC College
of Engineering. This fund continues that support. Norsym is
currently the Vice President of Alumni Relations and a member
of the WISE Steering Committee. Once again, thanks Arlene,
John and son, Keith!
