Announcing the 2008 NEW Leadership Illinois Summer
Institute!!!!
NEW Leadership Illinois is a non-partisan, week-long residential
program for college women designed to increase women's representation
in all elements of public life, including elected office. The
program challenges our brightest students to think critically
and creatively about public policy and encourages them to make
a commitment to public leadership early in their careers.
The program is sponsored by the Institute of Government and
Public Affairs (IGPA) at the University of Illinois and the
Conference of Women Legislators of the Illinois General Assembly
(COWL). IGPA faculty will run interactive workshops and COWL
members, and other women leaders, will serve as mentors in
the program.
The program will be held from June 3-8, 2008 on the University
of Illinois at Chicago campus. The application deadline
is March 21st, 2008. Selected students will be notified by April
11th, 2008.
