AARCC Essay Contest
Now Open
The Asian
American Resource and Cultural Center is pleased to announce
the AARCC Essay
Contest seeking submissions of
350-word essays on the question:
*What Does "Asian American"
Mean to You?*
Prize Information:
$150 1st prize
$100 2nd prize

The Kamal Kishore Kapur Memorial
Prize is awarded annually to an undergraduate student at
UIC for an essay sharing a
perspective on Asian American experiences. The Prize encourages
student engagement with social and political issues as
a way to create new ways of knowing and being that
will transform our community. Eligibility:
* Must be a registered undergraduate student at UIC
* Current and past Advisory Board members and staff of AARCC
are ineligible
Submission guidelines:
* 350-word essay on the question: What Does ³Asian American² Mean
to You?
* Cover sheet: Put your name, address, phone number (local),
and email
address on a cover sheet and the title of the essay; DO NOT
put your name on
the essay itself.
* Essay format: 12-point font, 1² margins, single-spaced
* Contest entries may be published in AARCConnections newsletter
* Submit entry electronically to: aarcc@uic.edu
Deadline: March 3, 2008 by 5pm
Judging committee will
be comprised of faculty, staff, and students from the Asian
American Resource and Cultural Center, AARCC Advisory
Board, and Asian American Studies
