Eligibilty: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and have in their possession an Alien Registration Card; be a member of one of the following ethnic groups: African-American, Hispanic, American Indian, Asian American, or Pacific Islanders; be accepted to or enrolled in a PhD programs, and are intending to pursue careers on sociological aspects of mental health issues

Description: Fellowship for minority students entering a doctoral program in sociology for the first time or for those who are in the early stages of their graduate programs. The fellowship supports the development and training of sociologists of color in mental illness and disorders and related co-morbidities (i.e. alcohol and drug abuse). The fellowship is awarded for 12 months and may be extended for up to 3 years. Fellows receive a stipend of $20,772 per year plus payment of tuition.
