Description:
The Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL)
will be awarding six scholarships with $2,000 stipends to outstanding
Asian Pacific American (APA) college undergraduates. The scholarships
are intended to enable outstanding APA scholars with the potential
for leadership, to work full-time and learn about ways to affect
public policy that benefits APA communities.
Asha
Jaini Emerging Leader Scholarship: Strong applicants
in this category will be able to articulate why they think of
themselves as emerging leaders, their ambitions for the future
and how a CAPAL summer experience will benefit those ambitions
and their local community. Applicants must be continuing undergraduate
students (no graduating seniors).
Attapong
P. Mellenthin Memorial Scholarship: This award seeks
to fund a summer internship coordinated by CAPAL in Washington,
DC for an Asian Pacific American student with proven leadership
skills and commitment to the Asian Pacific American (APA) community
and who is attending any college or university that is a member
in good standing of MAASU. Scholarships of $2,000 will be awarded
for 10 weeks of work. Applicant must be a permanent resident or
U.S. citizen and must have at least 3.0/4.0 GPA.
CAPAL
Scholarship Sponsored by State Farm: CAPAL seeks
a demonstrated leader that has a strong interest in community
development, commitment to public service, and is willing to work
to better the Asian Pacific American community. Applicants must
be continuing undergraduate students (no graduating seniors).
Federal
Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) Scholarship: This
scholarship is intended to make it possible for an aspiring undergraduate
leader to benefit from the rich experience of interning within
a federal agency in Washington D.C. for a summer. CAPAL seeks
a demonstrated leader that has a strong commitment to public service
and is willing to work to better the Asian Pacific American community.
Applicants must be continuing undergraduate students (no graduating
seniors).
Senator
Paul Simon Scholarship: This scholarship is intended
to make it possible for an aspiring undergraduate leader to benefit
from the rich experience of interning in Washington D.C. for a
summer. Applicants must be continuing undergraduate students (no
graduating seniors).
