Website: http://www.coro.org

Coro application deadline: First Friday in January

Important Notes:

Eligibility: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or the equivalent professional experience. Post-graduate academic and/or work experience is desirable. The foundation is looking for bright, self-motivated applicants who are committed to public service. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to civic or campus activities, and show evidence of leadership potential and a concern for the well being of communities. Candidates from all academic disciplines are welcome to apply.

Description: The Coro Fellows Program shapes leaders who can skillfully bridge the competing concerns of an increasingly diverse constituency in a world of constant change, varying resources and increased globalization. It is an intensive nine-month, full-time, graduate-level program. Unconventional by traditional academic standards, the program is rigorous and demanding, and is an unparalleled opportunity for personal and professional growth. Each year, after a rigorous national selection process, sixty-four Coro Fellows are chosen from across the country to serve as Coro Fellows at one of the following Coro Centers: Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburgh, St. Louis and San Francisco. Coro graduates are able to analyze the resources, needs and goals of different institutions and organizations, communicate effectively with members of diverse communities, build consensus among individuals with differing viewpoints and agendas, understand the dynamics of working with groups and individuals, design, undertake and evaluate projects, promote effective decision-making, and build and maintain a career network.

Tuition for the Fellows Program is $3,500, of which $350 is due upon acceptance into the program. Tuition scholarship funding is available and the amount varies from Center to Center and from year to year. Scholarships are awarded in the form of a reduction or waiver of the tuition. Eligibility for scholarships is determined by each Center; and there is no application process.
