Eligibility: Applicants must be graduating seniors or PhD candidates who have completed all requirements for any degree by the application deadline, save the completion and defense of the dissertation. Post-doctoral students are not eligible for this award. Students who are not citizens of the US may apply if they are already enrolled in a university located in the US, and if they will be in the US by the July preceding the fall semester of the academic year for which they have enrolled.

Description: Applicants must demonstrate exceptional ability and serious purpose. Special consideration will be given to applicants in the humanities and to graduate students who will have completed their dissertations by the end of the academic year in question. Approximately ten awards of $16,000 each will be given for the regular academic year. Study must be carried out in the US and all funds must be expended only within this country.
