Description:
The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program aims
to broaden the student population that studies abroad by supporting
undergraduates who might otherwise not participate due to financial
constraints. The scholarship can be used to study abroad in any
country except Cuba or a country on the State Department’s
current travel warning list for a semester or academic year.
Summer programs that are AT LEAST FOUR (4) WEEKS IN LENGTH are also eligible.
The program strongly encourages students to choose non-traditional
study abroad destinations, especially those outside Western Europe
and Australia.
The award provides
up to $5,000 in funding for students participating in a study
abroad program up to one year in length. A $3,000 Critical Language Enhancement award is also available for students planning to study a critical language while abroad.
