Javits Fellowship

Important Notes: the Office of Special Scholarship Programs WILL assist students with the Javits application process. Please contact OSSP if interested.

Eligibility: Must be a US citizen or permanent resident, or citizen of any one of the Freely Associated States. Must have financial need. If in graduate school, must not be beyond first year.

Description: The program provides financial assistance to students who have demonstrated (1) superior academic ability and achievement; (2) exceptional promise; and (3) financial need to undertake graduate study leading to a doctoral degree or terminal master's degree. The Department of Education awards fellowships in selected fields of study of the arts, humanities and social sciences.

Provides a one-year renewable stipend for a student pursuing a doctoral or terminal master's degree for study in the arts, humanities, and social sciences at an American university. Scholarship pays out both to the institution and a stipend to the student. Please see website for more details regarding finances.
