Eligibility:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, hold a bachelor's degree
by the time study in the UK would begin, and have at least
a 3.7/4.0 GPA. Candidates must apply 2 years or less after
completion of their bachelor's degree.
In addition,
it is recommended that applicants have extensive university
and community involvement, demonstrated leadership and scholarship,

Description:
Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability
to study for a degree in the United Kingdom. The Scholarships
were founded by an Act of Parliament in 1953 and commemorate
the humane ideals of the European Recovery Programme (The
Marshall Plan). They are funded by the British government.
Up to 40
Marshall Scholarships are awarded each year. They are tenable
at any British university and cover two years of study in
any discipline, at either the undergraduate or graduate level,
leading to the award of a British university degree. Candidates
are invited to indicate two preferred universities, although
the Marshall Commission reserves the right to decide on the
final placement. Expressions of interest in studying at universities
other than Oxford or Cambridge are particularly welcome.
The award
generally pays university fees, cost of living expenses, annual book grant, thesis grant, research and daily travel grants, fares to and from the United States and, where applicable, a contribution towards the support of a dependent spouse.
