Eligibility:
Applicants must demonstrate superior scholarship, and evidence
of commitment to a career in government, and past, current
and/or anticipated future participation in government.
For example, past or current participation might include
an internship
with a public agency. Scholarships are open to undergraduate
and graduate students pursuing careers in public service.
Description:
The McKelvie Scholarship, offered by the Political Science
department of the University of Nebraska, is open to undergraduates
and graduates from all U.S. institutions. Twenty scholarships
ranging up to $2,000 are awarded each year. The purpose is
to
promote and strengthen public service leadership in the public
sector. "Public
service" in this
context refers to work and/or a career in government employment.
These include but are not confined to local, state, and federal
government, employment or careers. In addition to the application
form, applicants must submit transcripts of all academic work,
a résumé,
and two letters of support.
