Ethnicity-Based Scholarships

American Architectural Foundation Scholarships for Minority and Disadvantaged Students - for high school seniors, college freshmen and technical/community college transfer students who would have otherwise not been able to enter into a professional architecture program for finanical reasons

American Chemical Society Minority Scholars Program - minorities in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or a chemically related field

American Political Science Association Minority Fellowship Program - for pursuit of doctoral degrees in political science

American Psychological Association Minority Fellowships Program - minority students with a dedication to a career in mental health research or services relevant to ethnic and racial minority groups

American Sociological Association Minority Fellowships Program - supports the development and training of sociologists of color in mental illness and disorders and related co-morbidities (i.e. alcohol and drug abuse).

American Meteorological Society - meteorology, oceanography, hydrology

Asian Pacific Fund Shui Kuen and Allen Chin Scholarship - for students who have worked or are currently working at an Asian restaurant (Asian-owned or Asian cuisine), or have at least one parent who has worked or is working in one

Robert B. Bailey - CIEE study abroad program

Bell Labs Graduate Research Fellowship - PROGRAM SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY AS OF 2007-08 ACADEMIC YEAR

CAPAL Scholarships - funding for Asian American students to complete summer internships in Washington, DC

Chinese American Medical Society Scholarship - medical and dental students, Chinese Americans

Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship (UIC) - any discipline

Merage-immigrant students studying business, the arts, science, education or public service

Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund - law

Microsoft - computer science, engineering, sciences and math

NAACP - several scholarships, variety of fields

NABJ - journalism

NBI African-American Law Student Fellowship - law

NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship Program - to intern at NCAA headquarters for one year

NIAF - Italian Americans, various fields

NIH Heart, Lung & Blood Institute Biomedical Research Training Program - for underrepresented undergraduates and graduates, 2-year paid research training at NIH

National Medical Fellowships - for minority students going into medicine

Newhouse Fellowship at Syracuse University - graduate study in newspaper journalism with one-year apprenticeship at a newspaper immediately following, for historically underrepresented minority groups
