Eligibility:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents with
a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university,
and must have undergraduate preparation in biology, chemistry
(both inorganic and organic), physics, and mathematics. They must
have an outstanding academic record and show exceptional promise
for a career in biomedical research. Previous laboratory research
experience is a strong qualification for this program.
Description:
The National Institutes of Health-University of Cambridge
Health Science Scholars Program is a special interdisciplinary
program committed to the training of outstanding students in various
areas of biomedical research or clinical research leading to a
Doctor of Philosophy degree awarded by the University of Cambridge
in the United Kingdom. Being a collaborative program between the
NIH laboratories and University of Cambridge, students are provided
with the opportunity to work at both institutions.
This research
program is for students interested in biochemistry, bioinformatics,
cell biology, developmental biology, genetics, immunology, microbiology,
molecular biology, neuroscience, pharmacology, structural biology
or any other area of biomedical research. Up to six students will
be awarded a stipend of $21,300 per year, health benefits and
other academic support.
