Eligibility: Applicants
must be U.S. citizens or nationals, or permanent resident
aliens of the United States. Fellowships are intended for
individuals in the early stages of their graduate study.
Description:
NSF offers three-year graduate research fellowships in science,
mathematics, engineering, and many fields of social science.
Fellowships are awarded for graduate study leading to research
based master's or doctoral degrees. Students may choose to
attend any accredited US institution or appropriate international
institution of higher education offering advanced degrees
in science, mathematics or engineering. Fellowships are offered
for a maximum of three years, but are usable over a five
year period.
Approximately
1,000 new fellowships are awarded annually. Each award provides
a $10,500 cost-of-education allowance and a $30,000 stipend.
A one-time $1,000 International Research Travel Allowance
is also available under certain conditions.
