Students must participate in the Junior Summer Institute (JSI)
in order to be a PPIA fellow. Please see website for further
details about the Summer Institute.
Eligibility: Must
be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Must have completed
junior year prior to start of summer institute and have at least
one semester or two quarters of coursework remaining at your
home university, be committed to completing a Master’s
Degree in public and/or international affairs at one of the
PPIA Consortium graduate schools, and demonstrate an interest
in pursuing a professional career associated with public service
such as government, nonprofits, humanitarian and international
organizations and other related programs.
Description: The
PPIA Fellowship program prepares students, primarily from underrepresented
communities, for careers and influential roles that serve the
public good. The Fellowship Program offers an intensive summer
institute (JSI) to train students in public policy work and
then offers to pay for graduate school should a student be admitted
into a public and/or international affairs Master’s program.
Fellows receive an all expenses-paid
summer institute experience after their junior year in college
at one of the following universities: UC-Berkeley,
University of Michigan, Carnegie Mellon University, Princeton
University, and the University of Maryland. They also receive
a minimum of $5,000 towards a graduate degree in public policy,
public administration or international affairs, and that can
be applied at graduate schools worldwide.
