Rome Prize Fellowships

Important Notes: A $25 dollar application fee is required for this award.

Eligibility: Applicants for the Rome Prize fellowships must be United States citizens at the time of application, with the exception of those competing for post-doctoral fellowships sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Graduate students in the humanities may apply only for pre-doctoral fellowships. Previous winners of the pre-doctoral Rome Prize are not eligible to apply for the Academy's post-doctoral fellowships. Undergraduate students ARE NOT eligible for Rome Prize fellowships.

Description: The Academy offers Rome Prize fellowships in the arts and humanities as follows: Architecture, Design, Historic Preservation and Conservation, Landscape Architecture, Literature, Musical Composition, Visual Arts, Ancient Studies, Medieval Studies, Renaissance and Early Modern Studies, and Modern Italian Studies. Fellowships generally begin at the Academy in mid-September and end in mid-August.

Fellows win either six-month fellowships with stipends of $12,500 or 11-month fellowships with stipends of $25,000.
