Important
Notes: Attendance at the EPA Fellow’s conference is
required of all STAR award recipients.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be graduating seniors or graduate students
interested in pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in an environmentally
related field of specialization. However, students who have completed
more than one year in the master's program or four years in the
doctoral program are not eligible. Students enrolled in a master's
program may apply for a doctoral fellowship.
Candidates
must also be citizens of the US or its territories or possessions,
or be a permanent resident. Resident aliens must include their
green card number in their pre-application. EPA may choose to
verify this number with the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
Description:
The purpose of the STAR award is to encourage promising students
to obtain advanced degrees and pursue careers in environmentally
related fields. The STAR Fellowship provides an annual stipend
of $20,000, up to $12,000 in tuition support, and up to $5,000
for insurance, books, supplies, research, travel, etc. The program
awards up to two years support for master’s students and
up to four years for Ph.D. candidates. Candidates will be selected
based on their academic records, recommendations, and career goals
and objectives.
