Alexander C. McCormickAlexander C. McCormick is a senior scholar at the Foundation, directing The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education project as well as the Foundation's survey research program. McCormick provides the Foundation with direction in research design, data analysis and survey research.

McCormick was formerly a senior research associate at MPR Associates, a Berkeley consulting firm specializing in educational research and education policy analysis. In this capacity, he conducted a wide range of data development and analysis activities for the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). His recent work for NCES includes studies of undergraduate transfer, credit production and access to graduate and professional education.

Before completing his doctorate at Stanford University, McCormick was an administrator at Dartmouth College. He has a wide range of research interests, including institutional change and differentiation, student access to and progress in higher education, faculty careers and the academic reward structure, and the economics of higher education.
