Dr. Astrida Orle Tantillo

Professor of Germanic Studies and History
Astrida Orle Tantillo currently serves as interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She has been a professor of Germanic studies and history for 15 years and is currently on leave from her position as the director of the College's new School of Literatures, Cultural Studies and Linguistics, where she oversaw six academic departments and the Sandi Port Errant Language and Culture Learning Center. Dean Tantillo is also an internationally renowned Goethe scholar and president of the Goethe Society of North America. She has been celebrated for her teaching with awards from UIC and the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies, and has been recognized for her research with fellowships from the Fulbright Foundation, the Weimar Classics Foundation, the UIC Institute for the Humanities and the Bradley Foundation. |
