APMP - Academic Professionals Mentoring: New Program Beginning Fall 2012
Under the direction of the Office for Access and Equity a group of volunteers from APAC and the Chancellor's committees are happy to announce a new program beginning in September 2012 through the 2012 Academic Year, ending May 31, 2013. We are now accepting applications for mentors and protégé until July 15, 2012. Download and fill out a form here. Mentoring is open to both Academic Professionals as well as Civil Service employees. Civil Service employees must have approval from their supervisor to participate.*
The APMP is a creative and innovative attempt to start to think about building in supervisory, departmental, and institutional consideration for our advancement and our longevity as vital staff members here at UIC. It is a cost-effective way to provide leadership opportunities, build morale, stimulate conversations around best practices, provide brainstorming and support sessions and rejuvenate a significant part of the administrative structure of the University.
The AP mentoring program has been very popular and we continue to receive a large number of protégé applications, however the program is largely driven by the number of staff members who want to become a mentor. Consequently, we cannot guarantee we will be able to pair every protégé with a mentor.
