Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are institutions of higher learning, founded primarily for the education of African-Americans. About 214,000 or 16% of all African-American higher education students in the nation are enrolled at HBCUs. Historically Black Colleges and Universities make up about 3% of all institutions of higher learning in the United States. Hispanic Serving Institutions (HIS)
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) represents more than 450 colleges and universities which are committed to Hispanic higher education success in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Latin America, Spain and Portugal. Although HACU member institutions in the U. S. represent less than 10% of all higher education institutions of higher learning, together more than two-thirds of all Hispanic higher education students in the nation are enrolled in Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs). AIHEC Tribal Colleges and Universities
The American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) sponsors 35 member institutions in the United States and Canada. Tribal colleges and universities, also known as TCU's, serve over 30,000 students from more than 250 tribal nations.
