Caryn Bills

Caryn Bills has more than 25 years of experience at UIC and given her extensive and distinguished career, was appointed to Associate Chancellor, effective January 24, 2013. Caryn continues to serve as Director of OAE on a reduced schedule. She began in OAE in 2000 and was appointed Director in 2008. During her time at OAE, she created OAE's Dispute Resolution Services (DRS), which she continues to oversee, and is a certified mediator. From 1986 through 2000, she served in the Office for Student Affairs as UIC's first Ombudsperson (1989 through 2000) and as Director of Campus Relations (1994 through 2000).

Caryn holds a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Keana Galloway

Keana M. Galloway was promoted to Assistant Director in 2011 and to Associate Director in 2013.  As Associate Director, she is responsible for overseeing the University's Affirmative Action Plans, Search Waiver review and the Academic Hiring process, including developing strategies related to recruitment and retention of women, persons of color, persons with disabilities, veterans, and members of other under-represented groups.  Keana supervises OAE's Equal Opportunity Officer and other staff as well as oversees OAE's budget.

Keana joined the Office for Access and Equity in 2006 as the Project Management Specialist and has served as the Liaison to the Chancellor's Status Committees. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Master's Degree in Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Samantha Hare

Samantha began working for OAE in 2012 as a Project Manager. She is actively involved with ensuring several areas of compliance, including academic hiring, affirmative action plans, and disability accommodations. She also investigates complaints of discrimination and harassment as well as contributes to the planning and implementation of institution-wide educational programs, including Title IX and AA/EEO training for students and employees. She earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 2010 and is currently working towards her Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Kathy Irving

Kathy R. Irving joined the Office for Access and Equity in July 2012. As the new Assistant Equal Opportunity Officer, she is responsible for providing oversight and assistance with the Academic Hiring Search process. She also serves as a resource to units and search committees during all phases of the recruitment and hiring process. Additionally, Kathy coordinates and monitors OAE's Dispute Resolution Services.

Kathy received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Human Resources from DePaul University. She has more than 18 years of human resources experience from a major Chicago University.

Rebecca E. Gordon

Rebecca Gordon is a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She just recently assumed the position as the Executive Associate Director of Office for Access and Equity and the Title IX Coordinator. She is a trained mediator and has co-trained various departments across campus on improving workplace climates. Over her career, she has provided diversity training and taught undergraduate classes that focused on the intersections between race and gender through Intergroup Dialogue. Additionally, she has assisted with the development and implementation of a comprehensive program of compliance for Title IX and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) amendments to the Clery Act. Rebecca has assisted in policy development for Campus Prevention and Sexual Misconduct policies, as well as in online training and web content for the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. She is a trained mediator and has co-trained various departments across campus on improving workplace climates.

Donald Kamm

Donald Kamm joined the Office for Access and Equity as Assistant Director in 2011. As Assistant Director, Donn is responsible for handling issues and complaints related to equal opportunity, harassment, and discrimination. Donn also develops and provides employee training on a broad range of topics, including preventing harassment and workplace violence.

Donn received his Juris Doctorate from the University Of Toledo, College Of Law in 1996 and his Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Indiana University in 1987. Donn practiced human resources and employment law for several Fortune 500 companies working specifically in human resources and employment law before joining OAE.

Jason Schwartz-Johnson

Jason M. Schwartz-Johnson joined the Office for Access and Equity in 2014. As Equal Opportunity Officer, Jason investigates and resolves complaints regarding equal opportunity, discrimination, and harassment. In addition to ensuring that university policies and practices comply with equal opportunity laws, Jason oversees the campus disability accommodation policy and provides trainings on a broad range of topics concerning accessibility in the workplace and in higher education.

Jason received his Juris Doctor from George Mason University School of Law in 2005. He enforced federal and state disability laws as Assistant Attorney General in the Illinois Attorney General's Office. Previously, he counseled and represented employees regarding discrimination and compensation matters in private practice.

Chorlatte Mack

Chorlatte began at OAE in July 2010 and currently serves as Secretarial Assistant to OAE's Executive Associate Director and Associate Director. Chorlatte graduated from UIC with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Law and Justice in May 2013. She intends to pursue an advanced degree in nursing with a focus in forensics.
