Advanced Placement
Students may establish credit toward an undergraduate degree through the following examinations:
- Advanced Placement Program (AP)
- International Baccalaureate Program (IB)
- College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)
Advanced Placement Program (AP)
This program, administered by the College Board, is designed for those high school students about to enter college who wish to demonstrate their readiness for courses more advanced than those ordinarily studied during the freshman year. College credit is awarded to those students who earn sufficiently high grades on the examinations covering basic freshman-course subject matter. The University encourages able high school students to enroll in these courses and to write the examinations in one or more of the subjects below.
It is the student's responsibility to have official grade reports sent from College Board to the Office of Admissions before credit can be awarded.
UIC will award credit on the basis of grades earned on the Advanced Placement Examinations administered by the College Board as indicated below:

International Baccalaureate Program (IB)
The University of Illinois at Chicago will award credit on the basis of scores from several International Baccalaureate examinations: anthropology, biological sciences, chemistry, classics (Latin), economics, English, French, geography, German, history, mathematics, music, philosophy, physics, psychology, and Spanish. Students who wish to have such examination scores evaluated should request an official transcript from the International Baccalaureate program, or request their high school to forward an official score transcript, to the Office of Admissions (M/C 018), The University of Illinois at Chicago, Box 5220, Chicago, Illinois 60680.
UIC will award credit on the basis of grades earned on the International Baccalaureate examinations as indicated below:

College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)
UIC may award credit on the basis of scores earned on the College Level Examination Program (CLEP). A maximum of 30 semester hours of credit on the basis of CLEP examination scores may be applied toward degree requirements.
Examinations may provide credit if approved by the appropriate college and department. Prior written approval from the college and, where appropriate, the relevant department is required. Individual colleges may limit credit allowed. Students should consult their college and/or department for permission and required scores before taking any CLEP examination.
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences requires a minimum score of 65 for all examinations.CLEP tests are regularly administered on campus by the Office of Testing Services. For further information on CLEP examinations, call the UIC Testing Service at (312) 996-3477.
