Summer Session Only

Special Instructions for High School Applicants

Please review the following categories carefully to determine if this is the correct application for you.

- If you are currently attending high school and will graduate by the first day of the summer session in which you want to enroll in a course, you are eligible to take courses at UIC this summer. In other words, if you will have graduated by May 19, 2008 you are eligible to apply for the 4-week session. If you will have graduated by June 16, 2008 you are eligible to apply for the 8-week session. If you will have completed your high school coursework and finals prior to the start of summer session in which you want to enroll, but your graduation date is after the first day of summer session in which you want to enroll, please contact the Summer Session Office at (312) 996-9099 or at (800) 625-2013 for further information. If you want to attend UIC for the summer and do not want to continue in the fall, you can simply apply online as a Summer Session Only student following the Instructions for All Summer Session Only Applicants.

- If you wish to start at UIC in the summer and continue in the fall, you will need to fill out the Summer Session Only application for summer and an Undergraduate Web Application for fall. However, please note that the freshman application deadline for fall admission is well before the summer deadline. Check application deadlines for more information. To complete the Summer Session Only application, simply follow the Instructions for All Summer Session Only Applicants.

If you have already applied and been admitted for the fall, you received an Intent to Enroll form with your Notice of Admission. You will still need to submit your Intent to Enroll for the fall by the Intent to Enroll deadline even if you plan to attend summer session.

Please note that the courses you take in the summer will not automatically be applied towards your degree requirements because you will be taking them as a nondegree Summer Session Only student. You should contact your college in the fall to petition for those courses to be applied towards your degree program. If you have questions, please contact the Summer Session Office by phone at (312) 996-9099 or at (800) 625-2013, or by email at summer@uic.edu.

- If you are a high school sophomore or junior and wish to take courses at UIC, you may be eligible to apply for the Talented High School Student Program. Program participants are able to take college level courses at UIC. They pay regular tuition and fees, and all other costs related to taking UIC classes. To be eligible for the program, applicants must be Illinois residents, have received an ACT composite score of at least 25 (or the equivalent), and rank in the upper 10% of the student's high school class. Typically, applicants must also be at least 16 years old. Applications are also accepted for fall and spring by the appropriate deadlines. For further information and application deadlines, contact Amanda Onysio in the Office of Special Scholarship Programs at (312) 355-2477 or at amandao@uic.edu.
