Architectural Draftsman II
The Office for Capital Programs at the University of Illinois at Chicago has an opening for an Architectural Draftsman II. This position is primarily responsible for maintaining electronic and non-electronic documents, preparing CAD drawings for projects designed or managed by the Architectural/Engineering Services Division of the Office for Capital Programs, as well as maintaining library and archival documents of campus buildings and construction projects for Architects, Engineers, Construction Managers and other Facilities Personnel.
Minimum Qualifications: High School graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in architectural drafting work. College course work in an architecture curriculum may be substituted, year for year, up to a maximum of three (3) years.
Additional Desirable Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, architecture, or closely related fields. Two (2) years work experience in an A & E contracting firm or engineering office preparing working CAD drawings.
Duties: Prepare detailed architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings from written information received from supervisor, architects, and engineers utilizing CAD-based methods. Prepare drawings and associated metadata for digital archives. Modify architects or engineers drawings to meet OCP and FIM CAD Standards as required and after consultation with manager. Assists OCP PM’s in field checks or "on-site" studies by investigating building sites to verify and record data for new and existing projects. Log, file and retrieve from library and archives information about campus buildings and projects. Generate HVAC and mechanical CAD drawing files for bid documents. Working knowledge of architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and ventilation drafting standards and design.
This is a full-time civil service position.
