Voice Coaching for Business Professionals
Course Overview
Whether you're delivering a presentation, conducting a meeting, making impromptu remarks, talking on the telephone, or conversing informally with professional colleagues your voice influences how others perceive you. Voice power and persuasion come from an optimal combination of appropriate pitch, loudness, speaking rate, correct articulation of sounds, voice quality and vocal variation. Add interest and emphasis to your voice.
This six week course will assist you in sounding your best on all occasions. Decrease or eliminate such distracting habits as speaking too softly, breathiness, harshness, inappropriate rate or tone, and/or faulty pronunciation.
Course Structure
Each week will lead off with a "best practices for your business voice" topic. Demonstrations, group and individual practice, approaches for minimizing distracting qualities and habits, and identification of weekly capacity building exercises are included.
Course Materials
Take-away materials relevant to the week's topic(s) will be distributed throughout each class session. This will include informative, experiential materials, and checklists for "best practices" handouts. Participants will be encouraged to audio-record themselves and will have available self-assessment criteria for listening reflectively. Recommendations for self-improvement practices are provided.
Grading Criteria, Assessments and Evaluations
Participants are expected to attend a minimum of five class sessions out of six, participate in class exercises, and carry out assigned exercises to improve their business voice.
