Program Structure
The Emergency Management and Continuity Planning (EMCP) Certificate emphasizes training in the areas of:
- Communications Management
- Continuity Planning
- Crisis Management
- Emergency Operations Management
- Hazard Vulnerability Analysis
- Information Systems
- Organizational Crisis Response
- Risk Management
- Strategic Planning
To earn the certificate, students must complete five (5) courses with a total of sixteen (16) credit hours. The Emergency Management and Continuity Planning Certificate Program promotes student-expert interaction through online discussion groups and the use of virtual collaboration sessions. EMCP course objectives are assessed by quizzes, assignments and case studies. In addition, there will be a capstone integrated team project focused on current business continuity problems.
To earn the EMCP certificate, students must maintain a 3.0 (out of 4.0) average for all certificate program courses.
The EMCP course schedule follows the Academic Calendar set forth by the University of Illinois at Chicago.
