Brian Flora
As Diplomat in Residence at UIC, Brian Flora will be at UIC for the 2007-08 and 2008-09 Academic years. UIC, Mr. Flora received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University in Boston and served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1972 before earning his doctorate in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Anthony Benesch
As part of the State Department Diplomat in Residence Program, Counselor in the Foreign Service Anthony Benesch is working with students interested in preparing for a career in the diplomatic service. Mr. Benesch is available to faculty, graduate and undergraduate students on matters relevant to their studies concerning diplomacy and international affairs. He is also a valuable adviser to UIC as we continue to develop our long-term international agenda and its related program initiatives. Deborah Schwartz
Deborah Schwartz is a Minister Counselor in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State. She has served as the senior Economic Officer in Mexico, Israel, Taiwan and Nigeria and also as the Deputy Chief of Mission in Honduras. Ms. Schwartz received her B.A. in Latin American Studies and M.B.A. in International Business from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She currently serves as Diplomat in Residence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Ronald Godard
Ambassador Ronald Godard, a Minister Counselor in the Foreign Service, has served in U.S. Embassies in Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Chile, Argentina, Turkey, and as U.S. Ambassador to Guyana. He has served under eight presidents. Mr. Godard received a B.A. in History and a M.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas.
